DOORS Web Access - does anyone actually use it in earnest?

Hi,

Is anyone´s company here actually using DWA, and for which purposes (e.g. authoring, commenting, viewing...)? If so, do you believe that DWA, for normal authors, is a suitable replacement for DOORS 9.3 client?

Background for the question:

Our enterprise IT architects are - as they would be - very keen on DOORS users using DWA instead of using the "fat" DOORS 9.3 client. In their eyes web based stuff beats client based stuff all the time. I doubt, having seen DWA, that this is already the case. It might, one day.

Thanks!

In my company, we are recommanding our users to use DWA for viewing and commenting. For authoring, we discourage them to use DWA, as triggers do not work in DWA context. We have triggers to enforce some edition rules, and it is pretty scary to think that they can be easily bypassed by using DWA ...

Servanne.

Hi,

we use DWA only for viewing and commenting, and only when all "normal" licences are used.
This because DWA is not very efficient, in my opinion because of the complex architecture installed on the server :
  • DOORS server
  • DOORS client (Interoperation Server)
  • DWA Broker
  • DWA Server
Computation of web pages is too long.

(we use version 1.1)
